All-Russian campaign “Week without turnstiles”

As part of the All-Russian campaign “Week without Turnstiles”, career guidance events were organized and held in the department of a social shelter for children and adolescents from October 15 to 21. Having already become traditional, the action has been held since 2015 by the Russian Mechanical Engineers Union twice a year: in the third week of April and the third week of October.

The purpose of the event is to form a system of early career guidance for children. “Week Without Turnstiles” is a set of events aimed at directly introducing children and their parents to the work of enterprises located in their region.

The following activities were carried out with the students of the department:

  • Excursion to Pestovokhleb LLC. Children had a unique opportunity to see with their own eyes where and how bread is made, where and how delicious bakery products are baked: loaves, long loaves, loaves, braids, buns, bagels. Pestovokhleb employees showed and told the children the whole process of baking bread. The children got acquainted not only with the technological process of baking bread, but also with the work of all the Pestovokhleb employees.
  • The design exhibition “Young Designer” was organized. The joint creativity of children in making models using different construction sets combined elements of play with experimentation, which undoubtedly develops children’s design abilities and technical thinking.
  • An exhibition of drawings “My future profession” was organized. During the preparatory work, preschool children, with the help of teachers, played role-playing games based on existing knowledge about professions. It was very interesting to talk with the children about who they see themselves in the future, what profession they will choose and how they will draw.
  • Diagnostic testing was carried out for school-age children for professional self-determination and a conversation on the topic “I want, I can, I must - the components of success.”
  • A quiz “Inventors of our country” was held, during which children expanded their understanding of inventors and enriched their knowledge about the world of discoveries and inventions.
  • The children attended a virtual excursion “Mechanical Engineering”. The teacher introduced the children to a complex of heavy industries and the main areas of mechanical engineering.
  • The week-long event ended with a screening of the film Quantorium. Children learned that Quantorium children's technology parks are sites equipped with high-tech equipment aimed at training new highly qualified engineering personnel, developing, testing and introducing innovative technologies and ideas.

From 15 to 21 October 2018 In the regions of Russia, the second autumn All-Russian campaign “Week without turnstiles” will be held this year.
